I got a good scare yesterday morning when I walked out the back door. There was a deer standing in the driveway, not 6 feet from me. I don’t know who was more startled, the deer of me. The deer pivoted on her back feet and took off toward the orchard and that was when I saw her friend a little bit farther away. Tonight they were back with more friends. 4 nice big does eating windfalls from the apple tree by the barn. I’ve never seen them so close to the house or buildings before. No wonder the cats keep picking up ticks.
